About Programme
The aim of the Department of Actuarial and Risk Management is to train graduates who have sufficient theoretical background to be successful in actuarial exams and who have a successful career in insurance and financial institutions operating at national and international level.

History
Karabük University Faculty of Business Actuarial and Risk Management Department were established on 02.02.2011 and it received its first students in 2011. Currently, there are 333 students, 6 faculty members and 2 research assistants in our department.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.
Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of Bachelor’s Degree, the student must complete
-all courses in the curriculum,
-a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 (50/100) and 240 ECTS and no failing grades.
Students admitted in 2016 or later must take at least one University Elective Course (ÜSD) each semester and complete it successfully.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Actuarial and Risk Management department are working in financial institutions such as banking, financial investment, insurance and consultancy, as well as in public sectors and large enterprises, as well as in the financial sectors that are developing very rapidly in our country and in the world. They will easily find employment opportunities in the finance and risk management departments of private sector enterprises and in the Ministry of Finance, Undersecretariat of Treasury, Court of Accounts, Social Security Institution, Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), Capital Markets Board (SPK), public and private banks and other public institutions, insurance and reinsurance companies, consultancy companies.
Assessment and Grading
The exams are conducted by the Dean's Office as stated in the "Karabük University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations".
