Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Software engineering graduates are primarily engineers who will be employed in almost every function related to the operation of the computer, informatics and communication sector, especially in software design, software testing and reliability, software management and development, software architecture and analysis, computer network software, software support engineering. The most important advantages that distinguish software engineers, who are increasingly demanded today, from computer programmers, technicians and analysts are the system approach and analytical permanent solution development capabilities gained by engineering education.
Assessment and Grading
The success grade in a course is formed as a result of the evaluation of the student's activities and/or exams during the year. Measurement and evaluation are primarily made according to the Relative Evaluation System (BDS). In cases where the Relative Evaluation System (BDS) conditions are not met, the evaluation is made according to the Absolute Evaluation System (MDS).
The methods and principles regarding the measurement and evaluation of the success in the courses with the Relative or Absolute Evaluation System and the course success grades and degrees resulting from this evaluation are determined by the Senate.
There is at least one midterm exam for each course. Whether the students are successful in the courses they take is evaluated in two stages, a midterm exam and a final exam. Apart from midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities deemed appropriate by the instructor can be done.
The number of these activities and their contribution to the success grade are specified in the lesson plan by the instructor. While determining the passing grade, the midterm exam is 40% and the final exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated out of 100 points. While calculating the success grade, the grade obtained by the student is converted into a letter grade in the relative system.
In order to be considered successful in a course, a student must obtain a minimum letter grade of CC. Students with a GPA of at least 2.00 are also considered successful in the courses they received (DC) and (DD) grades. Students who do not have failed courses, but whose GPA is below 2.00, must first take their (DC) and (DD) courses again and increase their GPA above 2.00 in order to graduate.
