History
In accordance with the Decree of the Council of Ministers dated 26 September 2011 and numbered 2011/2276, the Tourism Guidance Department of Safranbolu Tourism Faculty, which was established in the Official Gazette dated 24 October 2011 and numbered 28094, started its education life with 30 students in the 2019-2020 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete all courses (equivalent to 240 ECTS in total) are awarded a bachelor's degree in Tourism Guidance. Lar PROFESSIONAL TOURIST GUIDANCE IDENTITY CARD ”shall be issued in the name of those who have graduated from the guidance departments of faculties and schools and who have YDS certificate at least (C) level, submit their documents indicating that they have participated in the application tour organized by the Ministry or participated in the application tour organized by universities.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.
Graduation Requirements
1) In order to graduate from the related department, students must take at least 240 ECTS courses from the related department courses and 174 credit courses and be successful.
2) Having completed at least thirty-six (36) calendar days of national domestic travels to be organized by the Tourist Guides Association and having six-six (6) calendar days for each regional local travels, Guidance Article 14 (2)).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Tourist Guidance Undergraduate Program is to educate the manpower to meet the need of educated guide of tourism industry which has an important place in our country's economy. In this context, graduates of Tourism Guidance, Travel Agencies and Tour Operators together with tourists, welcome, to give information about the region, region and country can do such things. Professional Tour Guides are the main elements in the promotion of our country which hosts an average of 40 million tourists annually and has an income of 35 billion dollars.
Tourist guides have a very important and active profession; In addition to taking duties such as tourist guidance, tour organization management and agency management in travel agencies, they also have the opportunity to work individually. On the other hand, they will have the ability to work in international businesses.
Assessment and Grading
Students who do not attend more than 30% of theoretical courses and 20% of applied courses cannot take the exams of that course.

If there is no activity in a course, the contribution rate of the midterm exam to the success grade is calculated as 40%. If it is decided to take the general exam and the make-up exam, the contribution rate of the grade is calculated as 60%.
