About Programme
The aim of the Turkısh Folk Music Department is to educate the students having professional sufficiency in their fields with international view. About music production, both theoretical and practical knowledge is given to the students to provide them making musical analysis ability. Furthermore, the required knowledge and ability for making music and coordinating the musical activities are gained to the students to get them finding jobs in private industries. The graduated students who has a master degree without thesis can work as a music teacher in official and private schools which belong to the National Educational Ministry. Also our graduated students can work in the music industry. Program ends at the end of the 8 semestre, and students obtain 240 credits as ECTS that are compulsory and elected course.

History
Department of Turkish Folk Music, Safranbolu Fethi Toker Fine Arts and Design
Faculty of Music Department, taking its first students in 2012,
has started to carry out education and training activities.
Qualification Awarded
Graduates who complete the program successfully by fulfilling all the requirements, "Safranbolu Fethi Toker Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Department of Music - Turkish Folk Music Master Degree in the branch of Arts" degree.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.
Graduation Requirements
The students who study in the programme must fulfil the following graduation requirements to get the Bachelor’s Degree:
-all courses in the curriculum,
-a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 (50/100) and 240 ECTS and no failing grades.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Department of Turkish Folk Music can be a teacher and academician in the field of education, and they also have the opportunity to work in private institutions such as art consultancy, performing and choral. In the public sector, the Ministry of Culture (YÖK) can work by using its artistic accumulations in various fields.
Assessment and Grading
For each course, a midterm exam and a final exam are evaluated.
