About Programme

The goals and objectives of the study in the programme of Archaeology are as follows: * To train professional archaeologists. * To train young scientists to achieve significant achievements in different fields of Archaeology. * To gain professional and scientific ethics * To contribute to the study of the regional archaeology in Turkey * To have them study with foreign excavation experts for comparing and contrasting various cultures and values.

History
Karabük University Archeology Department was established in 2010 and started to accept students in 2012-2013. Department of Archeology is the first education and the language of instruction is Turkish. It is completed in 4 years (8 semesters) from the Archeology Undergraduate Program. In order to graduate from the department of archeology, students successfully complete all courses given during 8 semesters and obtain a bachelor's degree with a total of 240 ECTS. Our graduate students are entitled to the title of Archeologist. students must attend classes and exams. In the department, lectures are evaluated with written exams, presentations and seminars. With the spring semester of 2020, graduate education is also provided in the department.

In the programme, there are enough classrooms for the undergraduate education, and these classrooms are fully equipped with high technology such as projectors and other facilities. In addition, there is also a computer laboratory with the capacity of 100 students.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all the courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded the Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens: (1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students: (1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.

Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of Bachelor’s Degree, the student must complete
-all courses in the curriculum,
-a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 (50/100) and 240 ECTS and no failing grades.

Examinations is carried out according to exam regulations of Karabuk University.
