History
The computer engineering department was established in 2008 and started admitting undergraduate students in 2008-2009.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:

(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.

For International Students:

(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.
Graduation Requirements
In order for the student to be eligible for graduation; Students must successfully complete the courses, applications, internships and similar studies required by the diploma program they are enrolled in, in accordance with the provisions of this Karabük University Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education Regulation (published on 07/09/2021) and have a minimum overall academic grade point average of 2.00.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of Computer Engineering Department; They can work in the IT department of a bank, university, hospital, private company or public institution, as well as a system analyst, application programmer, database manager, network They can also work as a designer, security manager, system evaluator, system programmer, system designer, standards and methods controller, end-user support specialist, application programmer. Since the graduates of the Computer Engineering Department are open to innovations and can adapt quickly to changing technology, employment as a technological product sales-support engineer, communication engineer, and information technology specialist is possible.
Assessment and Grading
(1) The success grade in a course is formed as a result of the joint evaluation of the student's activities and/or exams during the year. Measurement and evaluation are primarily made according to the Relative Evaluation System (BDS). In cases where the Relative Evaluation System (BDS) conditions are not met, the evaluation is made according to the Absolute Evaluation System (MDS).
(2) The methods and principles regarding the measurement and evaluation of the success in the courses with the Relative or Absolute Evaluation System and the course success grades and degrees resulting from this evaluation are determined by the Senate.
