About Programme
The program has the following goals and objectives:

1.Analyzing the concepts and ideas related to Art History by benefiting from scientific methods and using those ideas in the discipline of Art History.
2.Analyzing the relationship between the artist – his/her works and style by taking the historical, cultural, geographical, economic, social and political factors.
3.Evaluating the information acquired in the field of Art History with a critical point of view by using appropriate methods.
4.Collecting data for various research areas in Art History, interpreting and presenting the data and sharing outcomes considering social, scientific and ethical aspects.
5.Determining the requirements in the discipline of Art History leading the needs of the discipline.
6.Obtaining the skills of contributing the art of different regions, countries and the world and respecting the history, culture, environment and the world heritage.

History
Art history program was established in 2007 within the Faculty of Letters. The first student admissions of the program started in the 2009-2010 academic year. and currently has around 500 students and 6 full-time and 1 other faculty members and 3 research assistants.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all the courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded the Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in History of Art.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.

Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.

Graduation Requirements
The students who study in the History of art programme are required to fulfil the following graduation requirements in order to get the Bachelor’s Degree:
• The students must pass all the credited courses with at least a letter grade C, together with non-credited courses with at least the letter grade G
• They must obtain a total of 240 ECTS Credits.
• They must achieve a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 50 out of 100.
• They must prepare a graduation project, submit and defend it successfully.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduate students have opportunities for working in different kinds of academic fields in universities as "History of Art Lecturer", "Research Assistant" and " History of Art Specialist". They can also find opportunity to work in publıc sectors such as ministry of national education, Ministry of Culture as well as private institutions in the area of museology.
Assessment and Grading
Classical, test and application exams are held in the Art History section, and homework and projects are also carried out to measure students' level of knowledge. The central examination system, which was put into practice in the Faculty of Letters in 2020, envisages the visa and general evaluations to be carried out with a test.
