About Programme
The main objective of the Department of Physics is to educate students as physicists capable of conducting research and development studies in physical and related industries. The department contains six divisions; General Physics, Nuclear Physics, Mathematical Physics, Solid-State Physics, High Energy and Plasma Physics.

Program ends at the end of the 8 semester, and students obtain 240 credits as ECTS that are compulsory and elected course. In addition, students carry out Physics Research Projects in two semesters.

History
Physics department were established in 2007 within Demir Çelik campus and started to accept applications same year.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all the courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded the Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Physics.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.
Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of Bachelor’s Degree, the student must complete
-all courses in the curriculum,

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Students who graduated from this program will be titled as "Physicist" and can work as ;

* Researchers in universities.
* Physics teachers in state and private schools if they have a pedagogy license.
* Researchers in state institutions (TUBITAK, DPT, TÜIK, etc.).
* Researchers in R&D departments of private institutions and companies.
* Medical Physicists in hospitals.
Assessment and Grading
There are midterm and final exams designed for each academic terms. Other parameters to assess academic performance are written into documents relevant to each course.
