About Programme
The goal of four year undergraduate program is to train students to achieve scientific knowledge in the main fields of psychology and its relationship with the related disciplines. The program aims at educating superior psychologists needed by our country and the world. The program consisting of required courses and a wide range of electives is anually reviewed and accorded with the recent developments in Psychology and the needs of the society.

History
The Psychology Department has six staff comprised of 3 assistant professor and 4 research assistant. At the same time, Psychology Department is trying to expand its academic staff to be able to offer an undergraduate program. The department includes two laboratories for research and education. In addition, the number of books related to the disciplines of Psychology in Karabuk University s Library is increasing. The Psychology Department is working to improve its facilities to prepare an efficient learning enviroment for its students.
Qualification Awarded
The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Admission Requirements
According to the regulations set up by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK), the student admission for this undergraduate programme is realized through a Nation-wide University Student Placement Examination (OSS) organized by . In order to gain admission to this undergraduate programme (4-year, first cycle), students have to take a university entrance exam organized by the Evaluation, Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). The examination consists of two stages. The first stage is the Higher Education Entrance Exam (YGS). Students need to get the score of 180 over 500 to enter the second exam called the Bachelor Placement Exam (LYS). The second stage exam, LYS, is applied as 5 separate sessions. Students attend the related session according to the preference of their study field such as social science, language. Students who get the score of 180 out of 500 can make their choices of the Bachelor programme and the institution. The placement into this degree programme is carried out by OSYM based on the scores students obtained from the exam and their cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of their secondary education (high school in Turkish Education System). Following the submission of students’ academic programme preferences, the Evaluation, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) places the students to this programme based on their scores from YGS.

Besides, the programme also accepts successful vocational school graduates if they they take satisfactory score in the Student Selection and Placement Examination (DGS, i.e. Vertical transfer examination). In addition, the programme also admits the students to double major or minor programmes from other departments. For detailed information, please see the related regulation for double major and minor studies at the university:

The programme also takes foreign students for the undergraduate degree. Recently, the universities have been granted the right for the selection of foreign students into its academic programmes. Exchange students are also accepted to Karabuk University in the framework of the current agreements between Karabuk University and applicant students university to study at Karabuk University as an exchange student. The exchange students can enrol in the courses offered in the curriculum of the programme and study one or two-semesters. Application procedure for exchange students is administered through the International Relations Office. Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of the programme, students are eligible to apply to Master’s (second cycle) and in some cases, to Doctorate (third cycle) Degree programmes in the same field or in the related fields. For detailed information, please see relevant regulation for graduate study:

Graduation Requirements
The students who study in the programme must fulfil the following graduation requirements to get the Bachelor’s Degree:
• The students must pass all the credited courses with at least a letter grade C, together with non-credited courses with at least the letter grade G.
• They must obtain a total of 240 ECTS Credits at the end of the 4-year study.
• They must have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 out of 4.00 (60 out of 100).
• They must prepare a graduation thesis, submit and defend it successfully.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Psychology graduates will find vocational opportunities in various public institutions (such as, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, Social Services), private schools, kindergartens, special educaiton centers, psychotechnic evaluation centers or industrial establishments. After having gained a teaching certificate, they can enter the teaching profession at private or public schools. Furthermore, graduates may pursue an academic career by taking up scientific studies (Msc, Phd) at universities.
