About Programme

Management Information Systems, which contribute to organizations/businesses by transforming technology into strategic superiority by establishing a connection between organizations/businesses and information technologies; is the harmonious combination of people, information and technology for the purpose of systematic management within the integrity of the system. The main task of MIS is to collect data from different environments, process them in a way that is suitable for the purpose and present them according to managers’ characteristics and requests in order to support them in the decision-making process.
In today's business world where information and informatics are strategic, MIS professionals will be able to meet the needs of businesses in areas such as e-business, decision support systems, software development by working in information processing, system management, project development units of businesses in every sector. They will undertake various roles in the profitability and development process of businesses by contributing to more information-intensive and systematic working of businesses. Some of the positions that MIS graduates can assume in public and private sector organizations, apart from managerial positions, are as follows: business analyst, business development specialist, business intelligence analyst, database administrator, database analyst, information systems manager, information technologies consultant, information technologies development project manager, network administrator, system analyst, system developer, technical support specialist, web developer etc.
Department of Management Information Systems at Karabuk University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences was established on February 2, 2011 and has been providing education at the master's level since the 2024-2025 academic year. The academic staff of our department consists of one professor, one associate professor, one assistant professor and one research assistant in the 2022-2023 academic year. In addition to the faculty members of our department, academicians from different departments of our university and experts in the field contribute to the education processes. History
Currently, there are undergraduate and master's programs of Management Information Systems at prestigious universities in many countries, including the USA, EU countries and the UK. This program at our university admitted students for the first time in the Fall semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.

Admission Requirements
In terms of accepting students to the program, the student admission and registration conditions in the Karabük University Postgraduate Education and Examination Regulations are valid. Main requirements are:
Having a bachelor's degree indicating that you have successfully completed an undergraduate program.
Having received at least 55 standard points in the score type of the program applied for from the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) conducted centrally by ÖSYM. Instead of ALES results, scores obtained from similar international exams that are considered equivalent to this exam may be accepted by the Institute Board of Directors. The equivalence of undergraduate diplomas obtained abroad must be approved by the Council of Higher Education.
Higher Grade Transition
Graduates of the Management Information Systems Master's Program with Thesis can apply to doctoral programs if they meet the admission conditions.
Graduation Requirements
At least 7 courses, a seminar course, a field of specialization course and thesis work must be successfully completed, provided that they are not less than 21 credits. It is mandatory to take the Scientific Research Techniques and Publication Ethics course during the semester. A total of 120 ECTS credits must be successfully completed for graduation.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the program can work as academicians in the field of Management Information Systems or as experts, data analysts, business analysts, etc. in various institutions and organizations operating in the public and private sectors.
Assessment and Grading
Lessons can be conducted using various methods such as face-to-face lectures, laboratory applications, case studies and homeworks. Course methods and practices are shaped within the framework of the type of course, the needs of the students and the vision of the faculty member.
