History
With the 2022-2023 Spring semester, student admission has started
Qualification Awarded
Graduates who successfully complete the program by fulfilling all the requirements receive a "PhD" degree.
Admission Requirements
a) Having a master's degree,
b) To have at least 55 points from international foreign language exams accepted as equivalent to central foreign language exams accepted by the Council of Higher Education, or an equivalent score from international foreign language exams accepted as equivalent by ÖSYM.
c) To have at least 55 standard ALES score in the score type of the program applied for.
d) Success grade for admission to doctoral studies; It is calculated by calculating 60% of the ALES score, 30% of the GPA and 10% of the foreign language score. Candidate students are ranked according to their success scores and accepted to doctoral programs within the quota.
Higher Grade Transition
The PhD program is the highest level degree program and graduates who successfully complete the program can take an academic position in higher education institutions in the country or abroad or work as an expert in the public and private sectors in the same or similar fields.
Graduation Requirements
The doctoral program consists of at least seven courses, seminars, proficiency exams, thesis proposal and thesis work, with a total of not less than 21 credits for students with a master's degree. It consists of at least fourteen courses, seminars, proficiency exams, thesis proposal and thesis work for students who have been accepted with a bachelor's degree, with a total of not less than 42 credits.
For graduation; depending on the student admission method above;
A) To successfully complete at least the course credits,
B) Successfully completing 1 doctoral seminar,
C) To be successful in the doctoral qualification exam,
D) To prepare a doctoral thesis of original value and to receive a doctoral thesis by defending this thesis in front of the Jury consisting of faculty members determined by the Institute.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Our graduates have the opportunity to work in communication and media professions and research companies in both the public and private sectors. Corporate communication departments, advertising agencies, radio, television and cinema sectors are getting closer to the profile that will deal with job opportunities in local and national newspapers. Apart from these, graduates who apply from within or outside the field and complete the program can benefit from academic staff opportunities.
Assessment and Grading
In order for a course to be considered successful, both the general exam grade and the passing grade must be at least 70 out of 100 full marks, at the doctoral level. Seminar course, field of specialization, proficiency , thesis study and graduation project are evaluated as pass (G) or fail (F).
