About Programme
The Department of Forestry Engineering, which operates with 10 academic members who are experts in their fields gives training in the fields of Watershed Management, Forest Management, Forest Botany, Forest Revenues and Biometrics, Forestry Policy and Management, Forest Entomology and Conservation, Forest Construction and Cadastre, Forestry Economics, Silviculture, Soil Science and Ecology, Environment and Forestry Law, Forest Roads and Transport. The aim of the PhD program, students to do independent research, to interpret phenomena by investigating through a broader and deeper perspective and to gain the ability to determine the steps necessary to achieve a new synthesis. The thesis to be prepared at the end of the doctoral study; a) Bringing innovation to science, b) Developing a new scientific method, c) Applying a known method to a new field. It is to ensure that the reproducible original findings obtained from the related study are published in national and/or international journals, if possible, and presented as a paper in conferences and symposiums in the relevant field.

Doctor of Philosophyprogram has started accepting students in the 2020-2021 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the Forest Engineering Doctorate program are entitled to receive a Forest Engineering Doctorate degree.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
Second Cycle (Master’s) Degree diploma with thesis, (2) A minimum ALES score of 55 or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. (3) A minimum score of 55 in accepted foreign language proficiency exams. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of second cycle degree grade point averages, ALES and foreign language exam.

For International Students:
Second Cycle Degree diploma with thesis obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their second cycle degree grade point averages.

Graduation Requirements
The students who study in the programme are required to fulfil the following graduation requirements in order to get the doctorate degree (PhD):
The students must pass all the credited courses with at least a letter grade BB, together with non-credited courses with at least the letter grade G
- They must obtain a total of 240 ECTS Credits.
- They must achieve a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 75 out of 100 or of at least 3.00 out of 4.00.
- They must be successful in their seminar courses
- They must prepare the doctorate thesis and defend it successfully.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
First of all forest faculties in Turkey academics, researchers in all forestry research institutes, vocational schools lecturer in forestry, biology section of the science faculty from time to time there are employment opportunities as the instructor. In addition, it is possible to work in Free Forestry and Forestry Offices, institutions under the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, TSE, Research Institutes, organizations under various Ministries and public institutions, Provincial and district municipalities, within the State Planning Organization, and TÜBİTAK.
Assessment and Grading
(1) Success grade is calculated by taking 40% of midterm exam grade and 60% of final exam grade.
(2) In order for a course to be considered successful, both the final exam grade and the success grade must be at least 70 out of 100 at the doctoral level.
(3) Seminar course, field of specialization, qualification course, thesis work are evaluated as pass (G) or fail (K).
(4) A student can take another course instead of a course he failed.

One of the following letter grades is given to the student according to the success grade evaluation result:

In addition, the following letters are used for evaluations outside the letter grades in the table:
G: (Pass) In a non-credit course, it is given to a student who is successful by fulfilling the requirements of the course.
K: (Remains) Given to a student who fails to fulfill the requirements of the course in a non-credit course.
F1: It is given to the student who does not fulfill the attendance requirement, the student does not have the right to take the exam / exams.
F2: It is given to students who do not take the exam
F3: Given to students who take the exam but fail.
