About Programme

Çocuk Gelişimi Bölümü Karabük Üniversitesi'nin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi çatısı altında kurulmuş olup, bugünkü "Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü"nün temelini teşkil eden bölümlerden biridir. Çocuk Gelişimi Bölümünün misyonu, normal gelişim gösteren, özel gereksinimli, akut ve kronik hastalığı olan, korunmaya muhtaç ve risk altındaki 0-18 yaş grubu çocukların gelişimlerini değerlendirecek ve destekleyecek, aile danışmalığı yapabilecek yüksek donanımlı ve nitelikli çocuk gelişimci yetiştirmek; gelişimi değerlendirmeye yönelik araç geliştirmek; alanla ilgili kişi, kurum ve kuruluşlara (gereksinimleri doğrultusunda) danışmanlık, yayın ve araştırma hizmetleri sunmak; çocuk, aile, eğitimci ve toplumla ilgili çağdaş yaklaşımlar kullanılarak ülke ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda projeler geliştirmek, üretmek ve bu projeleri toplumun her kesimindeki çocuk ve ailelerin yüksek yararına olacak şekilde hayata geçirip yaygınlaştırmaktır. Bu misyon doğrultusunda çocuk gelişimi doktora programı Bologna süreci kapsamında yenilenmiştir. Yeni program oluşturulurken mezun ve öğrenci görüşleri, paydaşların görüşleri, sivil toplum örgütlerinin görüşleri alınarak ihtiyaç analizi yapılmıştır. Yapılan ihtiyaç analizi göz önüne alınarak program yeterlilikleri oluşturulmuş ve program yenilenmiştir.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
Second Cycle (Master’s) Degree diploma with thesis, (2) A minimum ALES score of 55 or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. (3) A minimum score of 55 in accepted foreign language proficiency exams. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of second cycle degree grade point averages, ALES and foreign language exam.

For International Students:
Second Cycle Degree diploma with thesis obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their second cycle degree grade point averages.

Graduation Requirements
(1) Graduate education programs in the departments of the institute, compulsory / elective courses required to graduate, thesis, seminar and similar studies and credits. The education and training plan to be applied for each program is decided by the institute board according to the recommendations prepared by the relevant department / art branch boards and submitted to the institute by the heads of the department / department and finalized with the acceptance of the Senate.
(2) Semester credit value of a graduate course is the total of the weekly theoretical course hours of a one-semester course and half of the weekly practice or laboratory hours.
(3) Taking into account the learning outcomes expressing the contribution of that course to the knowledge, skills and competencies to be gained by the student who has completed the relevant diploma program, the theoretical or practical course hours clearly determined and the working hours required for other activities envisaged for the students, ECTS courses within the framework of the principles determined by the Senate. credits are calculated.
(4) The graduate courses to be opened in a semester and which faculty members will teach these courses are determined by the institute board of directors upon the suggestions of the head of the relevant institute. If there are not enough faculty members, lecturers who have completed their doctorate, state artists or lecturers with competence in arts can also be assigned to lecture with the justified recommendation of the department / department board and the approval of the institute management board. When deemed necessary, appointments can be made from other units of the University and outside of the University to teach in the same discipline and interdisciplinary fields with the decision of the institute board of directors.
(5) In graduate education programs, all courses or some courses can be taught in a foreign language determined by the recommendation of the institute department / department committee, the decision of the institute board and the approval of the Senate.
(6) At least one course that includes scientific research techniques and research and publication ethics must be given during graduate education.
(7) The student's advisor together with the student decides which of the courses approved by the institute board will be included in the students' course schedule. Until the thesis advisor is appointed, the consultancy duty is carried out by the head of the institute department / department or the program coordinator / head.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Students who have graduated from the Child Development and Education Department doctorate program can work as academic staff at universities, as well as work in public institutions and organizations in their respective program branches. There is a need for academic staff in the field of child development in the health sciences faculties of the newly established universities. Doctoral programs are important to meet this need. At the same time, they can find job opportunities in Child and Youth Centers, Protection, Care and Rehabilitation Centers, Affection Houses, Community Centers, General Directorate of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and Family Counseling Centers and Hospitals.

The success grade of each course taken by the students is evaluated out of 100.
