Assessment and Grading
Students take a midterm exam at least once in each semester from the credit courses they have registered for. The midterm exam can also be in the form of evaluation of homework/assignments, projects and quizzes prepared in accordance with the Institute's thesis writing guide. In case of more than one midterm exam, their arithmetic average is taken as a basis for the midterm exam grade.

The student has to take the general exam of all the courses he/she takes in a semester and meets the attendance requirement on the day and time determined and announced by the Institute. A student who does not take the exam is given an F2 grade. The final exam can also be in the form of evaluation of the term paper prepared in accordance with the Institute's thesis writing guide. The criteria (such as midterm exams, projects, assignments and finals) and their impact rates on the final grade are clearly stated in the course contents distributed at the beginning of the semester and/or published on the website. According to the student regulations and academic calendar, final exams are held on the dates, places and times determined and announced by the university. The final grade of the student is given by the instructor according to the results of the midterm, project, homework and final exams.

Success grade is obtained not only according to the general exam evaluation, but also by evaluating the student's midterm studies together with the midterm exams. The contribution rate of the semester studies and midterm exam results to the success grade is determined by the relevant Institute Board of Directors, between 40% and 60%. The regulation on the assessment and grading system can be found at http://oidb.karabuk.edu.tr/yonetmenlik/lisansustusinav.pdf.

In order for a course to be considered successful, both the general exam grade and the passing grade must be at least 65 at the master's level and at least 75 at the doctoral level out of 100.

Seminar course, thesis work and graduation project are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful.
Appreciated general exam grades are entered into the student information system within the period specified in the academic calendar and the results are delivered to the Institute within fifteen days at the latest after the end of the general exams.
