About Programme
A doctoral program is offered for mathematicians who want to specialize in the subfields of mathematics by doing academic research and thus plan a career in the academic community.
History
The Mathematics Doctorate program has been open to student admissions since the 2019-2020 academic year. The program is carried out with a total of 16 lecturers which are 12 of them from the Mathematics Department and 4 of them from other departments of our university.
Qualification Awarded
The Doctor of Philosophy degree in the field of Mathematics is earned.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
Second Cycle (Master’s) Degree diploma with thesis, (2) A minimum ALES score of 55 or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. (3) A minimum score of 55 in accepted foreign language proficiency exams. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of second cycle degree grade point averages, ALES and foreign language exam.

For International Students:
Second Cycle Degree diploma with thesis obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their second cycle degree grade point averages.

Graduation Requirements
Students who have a master's degree with thesis; completion of required courses (and other studies) to meet at least 21 national credits or at least 240 ECTS credits. This process; it includes (at least) 7 courses, seminar work, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis work and thesis defense. Of the 240 ECTS credits, 120 ECTS credits consist of selected courses and seminar work, and the remaining 120 ECTS credits consist of the field of specialization courses given during the thesis study. For students admitted with a bachelor's degree, it consists of at least 42 credits in total, including at least 14 courses, seminars, proficiency exams, thesis proposals and thesis work, and a total of at least 300 ECTS credits, not less than 60 ECTS in an academic year.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates have the opportunity to find jobs as academician in universities, as mathematics teachers in private or public schools, as researcher in all branches of engineering, as analyst in the finance and insurance industry, as data scientist in the defense and automotive industry, as programmer or data analyst in the space and security industries.
