About Programme

The aim of the First and Emergency Aid Programme is to train assistant health personnel who can provide basic and advanced life support to the sick and injured in pre-hospital emergency services, who can perform medical interventions to save life and prevent permanent disabilities in the patient, who can plan and implement the appropriate emergency intervention approach, and who ensure that the sick or injured reach hospitals safely by ambulance.

History
Emergency and First Aid Program has started officially in 2012-2013 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
Program graduates are entitled to an First Aid and Emergency Assistance Program associate degree.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to first cycle degree programmes in or a related field of the study and gain access to these programmes through a centralised, nation-wide Vertical Transfer Examination (Dikey Geçiş Sınavı).
Graduation Requirements
To graduate from this program, students need to complete the lessons and credits already described in program schedule (minimum 120 ECTS) succesfully and get at least 2.00 GPA out of 4.00.
Also, they have to complete their 30 days training period successfully.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
This program graduates, can work as "Paramedics (Health Technicians)" at Emergency Services of public and private inpatient / outpatient health institutions and organizations affiliated to the Ministry of Health, 112 Emergency Stations, 112 Command Control Centers, Private Ambulance Services, etc. in units.
Assessment and Grading
Every student has to register at the start ot the semester and attend at least %70 of theoretical courses and %80 of applied courses in order to be able to take final exams. Students have to take minimum 1 mid-term and 1 final exam per course. In the total grade, mid-term’s effect is %40 and final exam is %60. Students are required to take at least 50 points from the final exam. In order to gradute from a program, the student must have taken all the courses and complete them with the minimum 2.00 GPA score. To the ones who failed on those, they to repeat the courses with the score CB or under.
