About Programme
To educate productive scientists who can develop techniques and methods for the diagnosis and treatment with the knowledge and skills that profession requires; that can develop solutions for medical problems; who are necessarily utilized in the subject of medical decision-making techniques, biomedical knowledge and data collection, access to this information and optimum utilization of knowledge; who are active in social relations; who are be able to easily adapt interdisciplinary fields and who can follow scientific developments
to contribute development of our country by; emphasizing “searching” and “questioning” education that the age requires; leading the original studies in science and technology and in this direction providing education that meets international standards in Turkey and becoming one of the world s most prestigious departments and by growing successful young people who aim to be benignant for humanity.

History
|
As for the physical facilities, there are two classrooms and one Amphitheatre for the use of students. Classroom and Amphitheatre are fully equipped with technological facilities such as projectors and other tools. Biomedical Engineering department does not have any research laboratories for the time being. However, it uses the existing laboratories - computer laboratories, electronics and logic circuits laboratory, microprocessors and microcontrollers laboratory - belong to Computer and Electrical-Electronics Engineering departments. Our own laboratories are under construction.

Qualification Awarded
|
Upon successful completion of all the courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.

Higher Grade Transition
|
Upon successful completion of the programme, students are eligible to apply to Master’s (second cycle) and in some cases, to Doctorate (third cycle) Degree programmes in the same field or in the related fields.

Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of Bachelor’s Degree, the student must complete
-all courses in the curriculum,
-an 8-week industrial training period,
-a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 (50/100) and 240 ECTS and no failing grades.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of these departments work especially in private sector on marketing and maintenance of medical devices. In addition, Ministry of Health put a regulation in action which will make hospitals with more than 100 beds to employ a biomedical engineer.
Other than these opportunities, as there is a growing need for researchers and/or academicians in biomedical engineering, it is possible for our students to carry out graduate studies at our department and similar departments in country and abroad. This way, academically inclined students of biomedical engineering may become the faculty members of future to serve at domestic and foreign research institutions and/or universities.
