About Programme

Civil Engineering is a basic engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and operation of engineering structures such as buildings, dams, water structures, motorways, railways, bridges, tunnels, airports and harbours. The study and manufacture of the materials of the above-mentioned structures, the improvement of soils and the planning and economic study of projects are other subjects that fall within the field of civil engineering. The aim of the Civil Engineering programme is to educate students who have basic engineering knowledge, analytical thinking and the ability to design and implement systems, who are prone to teamwork and who are focused on continuous learning and self-improvement.

History
There are 4 classrooms which are 50m2. Classrooms, in which can be maximum 80 students,are equipped with projection.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all the courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens: (1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages. For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to second cycle degree or directly to integrated third cycle (doctorate) programmes.
Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of Bachelor’s Degree, the student must complete
-all courses in the curriculum,
-an 8-week industrial training period,
-a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 (50/100) and 240 ECTS and no failing grades.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduated students have opportunity to work in these fields; house and industrial buildings, transportation construction such as road and railway, in new water constructions´ plan, project, built, about inspection and assessment of current buildings and strengthen, Public Works, State Water Works, Public Highways, Bank of Provinces and Public Enterprises such as Municipalities; furthermore in contractor companies inside and outside.

Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with master and doctoral studies in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from Civil Engineering.
Assessment and Grading
An end-of-semester exam is held for courses that gain knowledge and skills for the student from the courses taken during the study. In addition, measurement and evaluation is provided by taking homework, short exams or projects. For the courses that gain awareness, it is measured by taking two midterm and one final exam.
