About Programme
Autopsy Assistant Associate Degree Programme is a programme that teaches the knowledge and skills that will help autopsy processes in forensic medicine laboratories. This programme provides students with training in autopsy procedures, body preservation methods, laboratory techniques, forensic medicine principles and ethics.

Autopsy Assistant graduates have the opportunity to work in forensic medicine laboratories, hospital pathology departments or forensic medicine institutions. They can assist pathologists in autopsy processes, perform the preparation stages of autopsy procedures and provide support in the preparation of autopsy reports.
Autopsy Assisting graduates can apply body preservation methods in the autopsy process. They take necessary precautions for the protection, storage and transport of corpses. In addition, they know the laboratory techniques used in the autopsy laboratory and can assist in analyses.

Graduates of this programme have knowledge about forensic medicine principles and ethics. They act in accordance with ethical rules such as confidentiality, accuracy and impartiality in the autopsy process. They can take part in the collection and preservation of evidence in the forensic laboratory.

Graduates of the Autopsy Assisting Associate Degree Programme have the opportunity to work in positions such as autopsy technician, forensic medicine technician or pathology laboratory technician in forensic laboratories. They can assume an important role in forensic medicine studies by assisting pathologists in the autopsy process of corpses. They can also provide an important service for the justice system by providing support in the preparation of autopsy reports and forensic investigations.

History
Autopsy Program has started officially in 2018 academic year. It still continues with 50 student per year;50 quota for daytime and.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of program, students are awarded with associate degree in autopsy assistant.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
(1) High School Diploma, (2) Placement through a centralised, nation-wide student selection and placement examination organized by Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the centralized exam and high school grade point averages.
For International Students:
(1) High School Diploma and its "Certificate of Equivalency” granted by the Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE). (2) Exam for International Student (YÖS) or international university entrance examinations such as SAT I, ACT, etc., recognised by the national authority in higher education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their scores obtained from YÖS or equivalent exams.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to first cycle degree programmes in or a related field of the study and gain access to these programmes through a centralised, nation-wide Vertical Transfer Examination (Dikey Geçiş Sınavı).
Graduation Requirements
To graduate from this program, students need to complete the lessons and credits already described in program schedule (minimum 100 hours or 120 ECTS) succesfully and get at least 2.00 GPA out of 4.00. Also, they have to complete their 20 days training period successfully.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
This program graduates, can work as autopsy assistant in state hospitals, private hospitals and forensic institutions.
Assessment and Grading
Every student has to register at the start ot the semester and attend at least %70 of theoretical courses and %80 of applied courses in order to be able to take final exams. Students have to take minimum 1 mid-term and 1 final exam per course. In the total grade, mid-term’s effect is %40 and final exam is %60. Students are required to take at least 50 points from the final exam. In order to gradute from a program, the student must have taken all the courses and complete them with the minimum 2.00 GPA score. To the ones who failed on those, they to repeat the courses with the score CB or under.
