About Programme
The primary purpose of the Social Work Master's Program is to train human resources specialized in the field of social work. In this respect, the curriculum, which is equipped with advanced theoretical and factual knowledge, methodology, and application knowledge, also provides specialization in certain areas of social work by providing the ability to conduct research. The program content is organized to train expert and competent social workers and social researchers and is updated according to changing conditions.

History
The Master of Social Work program was opened in the 2018-2019 academic year and students were admitted to the program from the Fall Semester. The program, which started to provide education and training services with 15 students, accepts students from the fields of psychology and psychological counseling and guidance, as well as social work undergraduates.

Qualification Awarded
Qualification Awarded Upon successful completion of all the courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded the Master of Social Work (M.S.W).

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens: First Cycle (Bachelor's) Degree diploma, (2) A minimum score of 55 in the Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES) or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on ALES and first cycle degree grade point averages.
For International Students: First Cycle Degree diploma obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their first cycle degree grade point averages.

Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to third cycle programmes.

Graduation Requirements
The master's program with thesis consists of a minimum of 7 courses with no less than 21 credits, a seminar course, a specialty course and a thesis study. The master's program with thesis consists of a total of 120 ECTS credits for graduation, with a minimum of 30 ECTS credits per semester. The duration of the master's program with thesis is four semesters for each semester, regardless of whether they are registered or not, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program they are enrolled in, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation. In order for the student to get a master's degree; He must pass the thesis exam and meet the other conditions required for graduation, determined by the Graduate School Administrative Board. The student who is successful in the thesis exam submits at least three bound copies of his thesis to the institute within one month from the date of the exam and if the thesis institute is found appropriate in terms of thesis writing rules, he / she is entitled to receive a master's degree with thesis.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates work in various units of different ministries, especially the Ministry of Family and Social Services, municipalities, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions (as lecturers in universities) and provide educational and psychosocial support services in the fields of health, education, social security, social assistance, etc.

The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in the Course Teaching Plan prepared by instructors and included in the information package.
Exams, evaluations and grading are made according to Regulation of Karabuk University on Graduate Education and Training.
