About Programme
|
In order for academic studies and scientific projects to be carried out in our department, a graduate program is required. Depending on the rapid developments in the field of sociology, there is a need for experts trained in these fields. The aim of this program is to provide students with expertise by giving graduate education to graduates of sociology departments of universities and related undergraduate departments of other faculties. The aim of the Graduate Program in Sociology is to provide students with the opportunity of high-quality education by transferring high-level knowledge and experience in the science of Sociology, and in this context, to prepare students to become leaders of the future in the field of Sociology, business life and academic life.

History
The Department started admitting students in the 2016–2017 academic year. The Department of Sociology has 2 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 5 Assistant Professors (Dr. Lecturer Members), and 1 Research Assistant. Our department accepts students in both the fall and spring semesters.

Qualification Awarded
|
Upon successful completion of all the necessary courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded Master's Degree in Sociology.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens: First Cycle (Bachelor's) Degree diploma, (2) A minimum score of 55 in the Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES) or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on ALES and first cycle degree grade point averages. For International Students: First Cycle Degree diploma obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their first cycle degree grade point averages.

Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of a Master’s Degree, a student must have complated
- 7 courses with minimum 21 local credits, - One seminar and pass its oral examination, - Submission of a M.Sc. Thesis and pass its oral examination, - A minimum CGPA of 2.50/4.00 (65/100) and 120 ECTS and no failing grades.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
|
University, secondary education, research, media, public relations companies, prisons and detention centers, hospital management, DPT (State Planning Organization), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, TSI (Turkey Statistical Institute), trade and industry, local governments, foundations, NGOs and organizations working on a voluntary basis are some of the institutions where sociology graduate graduates can work.

Assessment and Grading
(1) Students take the midterm exam at least once in each semester and the general exam of all courses taken in one semester and meet the attendance requirement. Students who do not take the exam are given an F2 grade. Exam dates are announced at least two weeks before by the head of the department / department. Appreciated exam grades are entered into the student information system by the instructor in charge of giving within the period specified in the academic calendar. (2) Students who cannot take the midterm exam due to their excuse may be entitled to a make-up exam to replace the midterm exam, if their excuse is accepted by the Board of Directors of the Institute. The make-up exam is made by the instructor within the period specified in the academic calendar and the grade is entered into the system. (3) The academic staff responsible for giving the course organizes and manages the exams. The head of the department / department determines who will take the exam that the responsible instructor could not take due to his excuse and is notified to the Institute Directorate. (4) All exams that measure proficiency, level determination or course success can be done on paper and all candidates simultaneously, as well as being classified according to the field and difficulty level, and from a securely stored question bank, each candidate can be asked different questions at different times It can also be done in the environment. (5) Correction of any material errors regarding the grades is made with the approval of the department / department within five working days from the deadline of semester or summer school final grades with the application of the lecturer. Dates for correction of material errors are specified in the academic calendar. Calculation of success grade ARTICLE 52 - (1) Success grade is calculated by taking 40% of midterm exam grade and 60% of final exam grade. (2) In order for a course to be considered successful, both the final exam grade and the success grade must be at least 65 out of 100 for the master's level and at least 70 at the doctoral level. (3) Seminar course, field of specialization, qualification course, thesis study and graduation project are evaluated as pass (G) or fail (K). (4) A student can take another course instead of a course he failed. Notes ARTICLE 53 - (1) One of the following letter grades is given to the student according to the success grade evaluation result: ASSESSMENT MASTER DEGREE DOCTOR Score Letter grade Coefficient Coefficient 90-100 AA 4.00 4.00 80-89 BA 3.50 3.50 70-79 BB 3.00 3.00 65-69 CB 2.50. - In addition, the following letters are used for evaluations outside the letter grades in the table: G: (Pass) In a non-credit course, it is given to a student who is successful by fulfilling the requirements of the course. K: (Remains) Given to a student who fails to fulfill the requirements of the course in a non-credit course. F1: It is given to the student who does not fulfill the attendance requirement, the student does not have the right to take the exam / exams. F2: It is given to a student who does not take the exam. F3: Given to students who take the exam but fail.
