History
Master's program in Turkish language and literature is conducted in our department since 2017-2018. Our department accepts students in the fall and spring semesters. In our department, there are six departments: new Turkish literature, old Turkish literature, new Turkish language, old Turkish language, folk literature and modern Turkish dialects and Literatures. Three associate professors, seven doctor faculty members and one Research Assistant are working in our department, and our number of academic staff is growing rapidly.

Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all the necessary courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded Master s Degree in Turkish Language and Literature.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens: First Cycle (Bachelor's) Degree diploma, (2) A minimum score of 55 in the Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES) or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on ALES and first cycle degree grade point averages. For International Students: First Cycle Degree diploma obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their first cycle degree grade point averages.

Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to third cycle programmes.

Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of a Master’s Degree with thesis, a student must have completed
- All courses with minimum 60 credits,
- One seminar and pass its oral examination,
-A thesis and to defend it sucsessfully,
- Minimum GPA of 2.50/4.00 (65/100) and 120 ECTS.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Our graduates can teach in secondary and high schools, private schools and classrooms affiliated to the Ministry of Education. In addition, they can continue their academic life as faculty members or work as a Turkish language instructor in universities. In addition, they can work in the Ministry of Culture, TRT, press, publishing houses, various ministries, educational and cultural institutions abroad, archives.

Assessment and Grading
Our exams are held as mid-term exams, homework and final exams.
