About Programme
MA in History aims to:
1.Teach the necessary knowledge, understanding and comprehension for expertise in the field of History
2.Get students to the level of having required information in Social Sciences and use it in the field of History
3.Endow students with the ability of researching in archives, libraries, museums etc. and with analysis and synthesis
4.Teach students the ability of detecting and solving problems in discipline.
5.Get students the ability of using disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies, working as a group or as an individual
6.Teach students the application of theoretical and practical vocational abilities.

History
The foundation of the History Department within the Faculty of Letters of Karabuk University dates back to 2009. The department started recruiting students in the 2010-2011 academic year and now has more than 50 students. Department of History consists of 4 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 3 Assistance Professors and 6 Research Assistants. Courses are given by the departments of Ancient Age, General Turkish History, Medieval, Modern, Modern, and Republican History.

Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all the necessary courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded Master s Degree in History.

Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens: First Cycle (Bachelor's) Degree diploma, (2) A minimum score of 55 in the Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES) or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on ALES and first cycle degree grade point averages. For International Students: First Cycle Degree diploma obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their first cycle degree grade point averages.

Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to third cycle programmes.

Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of a Master’s Degree with thesis, a student must have completed
- All courses with minimum 60 credits,
- One seminar and pass its oral examination,
-A thesis and to defend it sucsessfully,
- Minimum GPA of 2.50/4.00 (65/100) and 120 ECTS.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The graduates of MA in History find the opportunity of working in the department of Turkologi, Middle Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and Turkish Research Centres in national and international Universities.

Assessment and Grading
The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in the 'course teavhing plan' which is prepared by te relevant faculty member and included in the course information package. Related articles of graduate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations are applied for exams and course grades.
