About Programme

The aim of the master's program with thesis is to
provide high level of education and research opportunities to the students who
have successfully completed the undergraduate program in Chemistry Department. In
addition, the student is expected to gain the ability to acquire a certain
knowledge and skills by doing detailed scientific research on a subject and to
gain the ability to make original contributions to the discipline by putting
this information into practice. In addition, the student is expected to
interpret the original results obtained from the scientific research and
applications and to write in accordance with the scientific framework by
comparing with the literature and considering the thesis writing criteria
determined by the Senate. If possible, to present the reproducible original
findings obtained from related studies in national and/ or international
journals and to present them as presentations in the related conferences and
symposiums.

Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of all the necessary courses in the curriculum, the students are awarded Master s Degree in Chemistry.
Admission Requirements
For Turkish Citizens:
First Cycle (Bachelor's) Degree diploma, (2) A minimum score of 55 in the Examination for Academic Personnel and Graduate Studies (ALES) or equivalent international examinations scores for graduate-level programmes such as GRE, GMAT, etc., recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on ALES and first cycle degree grade point averages.

For International Students:
First Cycle Degree diploma obtained from universities recognised by YÖK. Candidates gain access to the programmes based on their first cycle degree grade point averages.
Higher Grade Transition
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to third cycle programmes.
Graduation Requirements
In order to qualify for the award of a Master’s Degree, a student must have completed
- 7 courses with minimum 21 local credits,
- one seminar and pass its oral examination,
- submission of a M.Sc. Thesis and pass its oral examination,
- 120 ECTS and no failing grades.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
This degree is an academically oriented degree and enables the graduate to exercise his/her profession in or a related field of study and/or in research.
Assessment and Grading
One midterm and one final exam are held in each semester. Other parameters that can be used in measurement and evaluation are included in the information package of each course.
