HISTORY OF OUR FACULTY

Our faculty previously operated under the umbrella of the Faculty of Science and Literature. However, at the Faculty Council meeting of the Faculty of Science and Literature held on January 28, 2010, with decision number 15-164, it was unanimously decided that it would be appropriate to establish a separate “Faculty of Literature” to ensure the more effective conduct of education, teaching, and scientific research. It was established as an independent faculty by the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2010/777 dated July 28, 2010, published in the Official Gazette No. 27680 dated August 22, 2010. The name of our faculty was changed again to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences by Presidential Decree No. 10073 dated July 14, 2025. Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, who was appointed to the Dean's Office of our faculty on September 13, 2023, is currently serving in this position.

The duration of study at our faculty is four years. Only students enrolled in our Western Languages and Literatures department are required to take a compulsory English preparatory class in addition to the four years.
Our Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, which aims to train researchers in various branches of the social sciences, has also been providing Pedagogical Formation Training since 2013 to provide teaching opportunities in National Education and Private Education Institutions to students in many areas of our University, primarily Faculty students, and to a certain extent, graduate students.
